I do extensive health and genetic testing as well as account for form and function of the parents. They come pre-registered AKC with 30 free pet insurance which you are expected to utilize. They come microchipped and registered with AKC Reunite. You will need to provide me with the name you want to register with, a good long-term address, phone number, and email so that I can register you. We will wait for the week trial period with the pup to make sure you don’t change your mind because the paperwork will cost money to change it back. The puppies are born in my room and stay there for the first week and then move to the kitchen or living room for interaction with the rest of the family, exposure to other pets and sound variety. Deworming of pups and mother with products proven safe with long-term observation and vet guided dosages. I used to be a dental hygienist and take scientific research and testing seriously if done with rigor, proper setup and timeframe. We wash pups in warm water and trim bums and around eyes if a pet prospect. If you want a show dog, please allow me to guide you towards the proper puppy or guide you to someone else in my network that will have show quality. We go on car rides to the vet to get vaccinated, microchipped, and checked out as close to their 8th week as possible. As they hit the 4th week they really start to move and crawl, development happens fast at this stage and proper walking begins around the 6th week for the shih tzu... Big dalmatians develop at a slightly faster pace. We begin outdoor introduction in a few more weeks, with seasonally dependent activities and multiple locations, floor textures, sounds, smells, and types of people. When you buy a puppy from me you are getting more than just a dog, you are getting assurance that the pup has had the best start possible.

I will always take back any of my dogs at any time in their life. Your refund percentage is dependent on the circumstance on an individual basis and is likely a portion of what I was able to rehome the animal for minus my expenses. I guarantee that you should purchase pet insurance. For the dalmatians it's because sock removal surgery, etc. can cost $6000+- and insurance will cost less than that for the life of the dog, are you a gambler. Shih tzu are expensive dogs and you need to pay for full cut and grooming every 4 weeks at $1000 +- per year and vet care for any animal with heartworm meds etc is at least $1000 a year if nothing goes wrong. Something is bound to go wrong and that is why it is economically a good choice to get the insurance. Also, shih tzu are fillet mignon types, a dog biscuit isn't going to cut it.

Umbilical hernias are typically as severe as an outy belly button and cosmetic only to fix at under $200 but of course inflation happens so don't quote me on that. If you want reimbursement for such things, then we don't belong together. If you want AKC then approx. 30-40% minimum will have outy's. I will work towards none if other more important factors have been considered first but don't confuse it with a serious hernia with actual consequence. Also, shih tzu can snort and sniffle in the teething phase and you should wait on any suggested surgery until they grow. I respect vets but sometimes they get a little too excited, let's all slow our roll until a year or so. If the boys aren't a show prospect you don't need both testicles to have dropped and it only adds a few hundred to the neutering bill. If you are a show prospect we will work it out with a trade or something but I intend to see proof of showing in a serious manner. I repeat, these are champagne dogs, and you should be wealthy enough to easily pay for this. I haven't actually had an undescended testicle but just in case and as an example of how I will handle such things. I will not pair dogs that will create blindness or any disease that will cause death or spinal conditions that impede life, etc. I am doing the best I can with what I have to work with and always striving to do better. It would weigh on my conscience too much to create suffering willingly.

You have responsibility too. For the dalmatians you must keep their nails buffed down short and at a minimum curry their shed hair. For the shih tzu if you don't keep them trimmed short at the eyes and washed on the face, then the constant rubbing of gunk or hair can cause ulcers of the eyes. Don't forget dewclaws ( thumbs ) as they curl and pull out when stuck or dig into pad. Weekly rinse eyes and ears with appropriate treatments. Keep bums trimmed to prevent prolapse and ripping of hair. For both breeds caution is advised for the following. Don't let them jump off the couch or bed, you can break their back or give brain damage, obviously dalmatians get taller and grow out of this but the shih tzu are shorties for life. Don't mow or weed eat when they are 50 feet away or closer as they are ground level and gravels and grass always aim for the eyes, it's a law of nature. Don't allow them to poke their head out the window when driving down the road in the car as a bug or gravel can fly into their eyes at high velocity. Walk through the woods with sticker bushes and brambles at your own risk or allow them to chase the bunny into the bush and be sure their eyes may get poked. All these things cause eye injury which presents as an ulcer or puncture. They love to play with cats but even a fun game can end with a cat claw in the eye, they don't necessarily cry out and sometimes just mope when injured. To be clear, I allow some things mentioned but I understand that it's my fault when bad things happen.

So, I repeat, I will take back any of my dogs at any time, you can have a partial refund for the life of the dog as a percentage of age and a factor of how much I was able to re home the dog for. If the dog is deemed unfit by a vet within 4 days of possession then 100% refund upon return. If it's been under a week since purchase and you just changed your mind then 90% of purchase price. if the dog has been in your possession longer than a week and is 8 weeks - 1 yr then you get 60% of what I was able to rehome the dog for minus my expenses and any fees knowing that I have offered the dog at a discount price to move fast. 2 years - 7 years is 30%. if the dog is 8 or more you get 10% of rehoming fee minus my expenses. This is only for if you give me back the dog and I will have possession and time to place the dog before refunding money. This is like a rebate to encourage you to bring me back the dog instead of a letting a shelter take possession either for neglect or self-surrender. Depending on the circumstance I may be able to provide another puppy in lieu of money if I approve it and that is your preference. If you want money back without returning the dog the answer is no. My prices are too low for that and you better believe the price goes up when my quality improves because all my testing and continuing education and participation in the betterment of the breed isn't free, in fact I am in the hole so far. I have priced out the riff raff and am accounting for inflation and the fact that I buy the expensive food, and this isn't a charity although it has been non profit so far, not officially but practically. Don't tell my husband;). If you want cheaper then there are other providers that would fit you better. Good luck. So this is my contract, we will sign and date this printed document. Remember that I told you to get pet insurance and they come with 30 days free insurance via AKC registration among many other options that will cost $25 - $55 avg per month. They come pre-registered and microchipped. If the dog dies and you want a refund I require autopsy / necropsy because I don't assume you didn't poison it with a grape, raisin, xylitol, bug poison, fertilizer, household chemicals, eaten magnets or floss, etc.
