What you get when you purchase a pup from me:

  • Preregistration with Continental Kennel Club for dalmatians (referred to as CKC but not to be confused with the Canadian Kennel Club) a $40 value
  • AKC ReUnite microchipped and preregistered a $40 value
  • Pups get baths and nails at a $40 value each time
  • Kindergarten pups get outside and/or pine pellet box potty training started according to weather
  • Obstacles, balance boards, puzzles, and more make confident pups - priceless $
  • Confined crate training for a few hours at a time begin crate potty training
  • car rides and fieldtrips
  • DNA tested parents in over 200 genetic markers by Embark including ALT activity - a liver health marker, Urate kidney and bladder stones, and more. For the dalmatians I am working towards low uric acid in my program. The sire is only a carrier of one copy which is better than most with two copies so for the first litter 50% will likely be HUU like the majority of dalmatians that may or may not show clinical signs and only males need surgery some of the time, but diet management can reduce the risk and 50% will be carriers but not affected. Out of the first litter I will do testing and choose to keep ones that will only produce carrier but not affected with the potential for 25% affected, eventually getting to no carriers is the goal. This will take another generation or two as the majority of dal's are high uric acid resulting in potential bladder or kidney stones in some boys - it doesn't always affect them clinically and science doesn't really understand if the genetic marker is correlative, causative, or due to confounding factors or markers, the jury is still out. A $120 value
  • OFA tested parents registered with the database at $15 each test submitted
  • OFA's may include eyes, hearing, hip and elbows according to breed recommendations as well as finances permitting. Each OFA test has it's own cost ranging from $35 to $500 and adding up to $1000 for the dalmatians with a full set. I currently have eyes CAER, and hearing BAER on the mamma / dam in good standing.
  • Pups get an exam by a veterinarian, a $50 value
  • Full refund in the first 4 days or 2 years with a necropsy or a partial refund for the life of the dog according to age as detailed in the contract - seriously priceless $
  • Go Home bag, travel box if you are traveling alone with no car carrier, Pro Plan all stages kibble food, toy/chew, leash, breed information, and more at a $70 value
  • You are permitted to come to the house for pick up. This is an option that most won't allow. Priceless$ CONTACT via EMAIL FOR PICK UP ADDRESS as this is a private residence : boss@mountainpassbarn.com
  • I provide transportation for a fee
  • The go home bag and registrations and vet care add up to a $750 value that most don't provide. That doesn't account for the cost of operation adding up to $4000 per dog every year on average without accounting for my time or facility improvements. Because I follow the guidelines of ethical breeding practices, I only have a small handful of pups per year and my costs are greater with all the upfront OFA certifications and health testing. Please do not purchase until we have talked and discussed pick up or optional transportation as fees are separate and in addition to the puppy price and dependent on distance. A general rule is the ticket price from ROA / RNK x2 plus a hotel if needed. Delivery by car up to around 100 miles from Roanoke Va is $300 and delivery by train to Alexandria (ALX) or DC (WAS) is $300.
