I will have more litters near the summer of shih tzu and dalmatian.
There are two options for deposits: $300 for waitlist pairing/pick at 8 weeks old/refundable or $500 for specific dog/non-refundable. Ideally deposits are placed on a waitlist to hold your spot in line for picking your pup. I always get first and maybe second pick. It's to your advantage if we choose matches based on your lifestyle and temperament as colors can change or fade significantly within the first year for shih tzu and dalmatians spots continue to define and fill in as they mature. You may express preference for size, sex, and color and when it's your turn you pick your favorite. Shih tzu litters are very small, we can't always guarantee a quick option especially if you have very specific preferences. Waitlist deposits are refundable since you aren't holding up one dog but a spot in line. If you really have your heart set on reserving a specific puppy or adult dog then the deposit is non-refundable. We have contracts for both options.
There is a good chance that I have more up to date pictures and options on the Good Dog link below. Pricing varies according to breed, registration type, and other factors like parent pairing and OFA's. If you found me somewhere other than good dog we can save you some fees upon payment either with cash (checked for counterfeit), cashier's check or using my special link button found below where you can pay by credit card or you can go through Gooddog and utilize their guarantee with a small fee. No Zelle or PayPal or any platform where the payment can be canceled. Good dog does offer a satisfaction guarantee if you are nervous about purchasing a dog online, they ensure that neither of us is scammed and will refund any monies to either party if the other tries to not pay by cancelling payment or not deliver a dog.
How much is that doggie in the window? What determines my pricing on dogs/puppies?
I have gone above and beyond with OFA health testing (knees, eyes, heart, sometimes elbows, hips, teeth on shih tzu or hearing on dalmatian) on my core original progenitors of family lines and DNA on all sires and dams. These OFA's and DNA tests ensure that you are receiving the healthiest puppy possible with the tools we currently have available. I microchip and register it for life. I provide AKC limited registration papers after proof of spay or neutering as stated in the contract for shih tzu. Lifetime support is always available and I will take back any of my dogs in need of a home for life. You receive a go home package of Proplan kibble, favorite toy for life that smells like siblings and the comfort of their childhood home, breed information, health records of vaccinations and deworming schedule. With all the cost that I put in with veterinary expense ($200 x 10 dogs per year for well check only = $2000), potty pads ($2 per day per dog = $7300 yr), laundry detergent free and clear organic because babies are sensitive and electric to wash ($3dy=$1100yr), electricity$200 month just for dogs=$2400yr) for special space heaters (I had to rewire my house with new outlets on their own breakers to keep it from tripping all the time [$3000]), remodeling for dog quarters($500 vinyl floor covering + enclosed patio with plexi and stuffed cracks with insulation plus labor), fencing ($400 small section inclosing 100sqft [ bought 3 in 2025]), bedding($100mth=$1200yr), sleepless nights, health testing ($400 minimum (x10=$4000) for shih tzu $500 minimum dalmatian(x2=$1000), continuing education($24mth = $288yr), feed ( $100 every 2 wks for 10 dogs= $200 mth/$2400yr for 10), medicines ($400 per dog per year flea/tick and dewormer = $4000, grooming equipment and product ($500 yr), I might make $1 an hour (8hrs dy x 365 dys=2920hrs not counting delivery nights) but that is all negated when we have an emergency vet bill for a momma in distress ($5000 [2024 eclampsia]), blow dryers and heat lamps($100yr), filtered well water, trash bags, paper towels, floor cleaning supplies. The dog/puppy($500 cost each at 8wks) is essentially free but I ask you to help me cover the costs of keeping the herd healthy, groomed and fed and my lost time especially because we all know inflation is real. If you are remembering a price from 25 years ago that's not fair. If you want cheaper I assure you there is no health testing being done by people charging less and you will pay the difference and then some in vet bills. I offer quality not quantity, I can't compete with puppy mill prices. No respectable breeder can afford to charge less than $2500+ each (we do charge less when nobodies buying but we are going broke doing it) and that's breeders with litters of 10, I have litters of 1 - 3 avg for shih tzu and 6 for dalmatian. I only sold 8 shih tzu in 2025 and 6 dalmatians averaged out to $1750 each with a range of $3000-$1500 = $25000 yr intake - expenses (regular reoccurring expenses $22000 +$13000 extra in 2025 for emergency vet and health testing that doesn't happen every year = $35000 expenses in 2025 so I am in the hole $10000 for 2025...even if I had no extra expenses besides regular reoccurring I would have made $3000 for the year. The cost is in the parent dog management and health testing, the young pups are not the bulk of the expense ($500 actual individual expense per pup up to 8wks...don't forget the cost of making the pup by caring for the adults). I should be tripling my price at minimum to make as much as a labrador breeder makes per litter, outside dogs are so much easier. Shih tzu can't get wet, like a gremlin, I have to do extensive comb out grooming and blow dry each time they get wet or they will knot up. You can cut their hair short and it's not a problem but I can't cut their hair because that's not what people want to buy. Also, keeping multiple adult shih tzu require extra hours daily because their hair is long yet knots up easily, there is so much grooming taking up 3 hours a day avg for maybe 2 dogs or one extensive full service groom. I literally spend 8 hours a day 7 days a week on dogs, my time and knowledge is worth something. If I have kept them longer and have gotten through the hardest part of puppyhood then that service should be more, not less at a low fee of $250 a week past 8-10 weeks.
Question: are you willing to pay me fairly for my expenses and time and effort? Given this evaluation of my expenses I do intend to charge more per puppy in the future because at $1 profit per hour that's unacceptable on any continent. The shih tzu is expensive to maintain, some breeds do all the work requiring no input from the breeder or assistance and do fine in the elements and temperature flux, shih tzu look at you to rescue the pup that escaped the nest so I watch 24/7 in the early weeks, they don't do much cleaning of babies(the ones that do make baby poop eaters for recreation, this is passed down in lineage and has nothing to do with nutrition for them - they literally play with it) and don't do hot, cold, wet, or windy.
"Garcon, bring me my slippers, chop-chop I say" - that's what I imagine they are saying to me.
